Safety & Outages

Power outages can strike at any moment and are caused by a variety of problems. Most outages occurring in McDonough Power Cooperative’s service territory are caused by severe weather, especially thunderstorms and heavy snow and ice. Malfunctioning electrical equipment and even animals can also lead to outages.

We understand that no one wants to lose power, but by being prepared, you and your family will be able to weather most outages.

Quick Safety Tips:

Stay away from downed wires or damaged electric equipment. Touching energized wires can lead to injuries and death. If you see downed wires, call McDonough Power immediately.

If you use a generator, never run it inside your home or garage. Some produce carbon monoxide fumes, which can be deadly.
